shoulder plate - open-hand catch
Device created and patented to perform the open-hand catch for shoulder exercises.
The original idea behind it makes the Shoulder Plate a valid tool because it reduces recovery time and avoids compensation effect of the hand.
Swimmers keep their hand open to make swimming more effective, following the concept of how a swimmer’s joint moves in the water and studying the benefits of this type of rehabilitation, a first prototype of open-hand catch. Shoulder Plate was created, after one year of experimentation, has proven that by switching from a grip to an open-hand technique one guarantees a safe and more effective exercise of the postural joint in the upper arm.
The measurement of muscle activity through an EMG test, found that the myoelectric activity of the shoulder exercises with the open-hand catch, was higher that during the one performed with classic grip.
The Shoulder Plate is a semi sphere volume made of plastic material with an elastic thread that, depending on yr needs, can be tied either to the flat or to the rounded side.
When using the flat side you can avoid compensating movements. The open-hand catch allows a correct shoulder exertion without elbow-wrist joints being involved.
The rounded side of the Shoulder Plate can carry out proprioceptive exercises to recover the sporting gesture in all activities where arms are used as a tool (over-head sports like volleyball, baseball,…)
